THE ORDINANCES


Ordinances are practiced by those who are saved.

  • 2 Thessalonians 2:15

 

WATER BAPTISM . . .

is in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

  • Matthew 28:19

is to be administered to saved individuals by immersion only.

  • Mark 1:10
  • Acts 8:38-39

 

WASHING THE SAINTS' FEET . . .

is commanded to be practiced literally and brings happiness when obeyed.

  • John 13:14-17

This is not a Jewish custom, for the Jews each washed their own feet or had a servant do so.

  • Genesis 18:4
  • 1 Samuel 25:41
  • 2 Samuel 11:8

The early church practiced it among themselves.

  • 1 Timothy 5:10

 

THE LORD'S SUPPER . . .

is also commanded in the Word of God as a memorial feast.

  • Matthew 26:26-29
  • Mark 14:22-25
  • Luke 22:19-20
  • 1 Corinthians 11:26
